A Late-in-Life Knowledge Archive
This web page is the culmination of a long effort to do a “late in life” brain dump of information that might be useful or of interest to others. Some of this information is personal and would otherwise be lost.
Growing Up in Power
Growing up as the son of an old-time employee of the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, I was immersed in the world of hydro-electric power generation from my earliest memories. My father was generator operator at the Schoellkopf Power Plant until just before the collapse of June 7, 1956. After a series of positions on the distribution side of the business, he finished his career being responsible for all power distribution in the Niagara Falls, N.Y. Region. Articles containing much of what I learned as a child can be found under the “Hydro-Power” tab. (For Canadian power plant info, see markcsele.ca.)
The Engineer’s Purpose
As an Electrical / Electronic Engineer, I found the need to share some difficult to find information on electrical topics. A set of slides was created for homes in my community that were deemed unsafe enough to be uninsurable, without mitigation, due to aluminum wiring. An article was created, because many electricians are still being taught incorrect & obsolete “facts,” which can result in fires. These articles can be found under the “Electrical” tab.
A Teacher’s Legacy
Finally, I spent 12 of my retirement years teaching mathematics, mostly at the high school level. Several handouts created for my students can be found under the “Mathematics” tab.
